Marc G. Kroop is a co-founder and the CFO of Advantage Law Group and specializes in the field of employment law. Marc’s practice includes both the representation of employees, as well as employers.
Marc attended Willamette University College of Law from 1990-1993. He focused his studies in employment law/labor relations and obtained his Juris Doctor degree in 1993.
While attending law school, Marc served as Senior Law Clerk to Daniel Ellis, Chief Judge of the Oregon Employment Relations Board. Also during law school, Marc worked as a law clerk for the Marion County District Attorney's Office. Marc provided legal research and drafted motions and oppositions for the DA's unit that specialized in prosecuting sex crimes.
Since passing the California Bar Examination in 1993, Marc has gained admittance to all of California's state courts and the Federal Southern and Central District Courts in California. From 1996 to present, Marc's practice has included all major venues in California, from San Diego to San Francisco.
During his legal career, Marc has successfully represented more than 500 employees in employment-related disputes and has mediated, arbitrated and/or litigated more than 100 cases to successful conclusions. While working as an associate attorney Marc successfully served as lead counsel in complex product defect/wrongful death litigation cases on behalf of his firm.
In 1999, Marc and his partner, Patrick Nellies, co-founded Advantage Law Group. Since that time, Advantage Law Group has grown to encompass four offices in California including, San Diego, Irvine, San Jose and Oakland. ALG added two partners, Anthony Ruggieri and John Goffar, in 2007.
As partner and CFO of Advantage Law Group, Marc's law practice has expanded from representation of single plaintiffs to complex class action matters involving thousands of class members. In litigation, Marc has prevailed in arbitration matters, bench trials, jury trials and appeals. In 2010, Marc successfully opposed a writ of mandate filed by the defendant. The defendant filed the writ after Marc successfully demurred to all causes of action in a cross-complaint against the class representative Marc represented in the case. Recently, in April 2010, Marc prevailed in a motion for class certification in the Superior Court of San Mateo in a mis-classification/overtime case for a class of software engineers.
Marc and the team of attorneys he works with at ALG have been battle-tested time and again and have obtained millions in recovery for plaintiffs throughout California by prevailing in court in litigation matters.
Marc has provided pro bono legal services to indigents and has donated his time generously to the Special Olympics and American Cancer Society. Originally from Teaneck, New Jersey, Marc attended the University of Maryland and received a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. Marc has lived in San Diego since 1993. Outside of work, Marc enjoys spending time with his wife and their three children.
