Some employers try to take advantage of employees by demanding overtime work without providing overtime compensation. Many employees do not even know that they are eligible for overtime pay. Even salaried employees might be eligible for overtime pay. In addition, businesses can be unscrupulous in developing dubious tactics to avoid paying overtime, such as by misclassifying employees, expecting an employee to work through meal and rest breaks, and claiming that "comp time" is offered in lieu of the required overtime pay.

Often, people come to our office because they have been terminated and they feel they may have a claim for wrongful termination. What we discover in some of these cases is that the client may in fact have a claim for unpaid overtime which is separate and apart from any other claims they may have. An employee not only has a right to receive overtime pay, they have a right to receive overtime pay in a prompt fashion. Our lawyers protect the rights of workers who have experienced these and other types of adverse actions in the workplace.
